ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have signed tight end Eric Saubert and released quarterback Jeff Driskel, the team announced Monday.
Saubert is a fifth-year player who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent the first two years of his career in Atlanta, Stitched Eric Saubert Jersey, where he appeared in 30 games. Saubert served largely as a special teams contributor, as he played more than half of Atlanta’s special teams plays in 2017-18. He also played 17 percent of Atlanta’s offensive snaps in 2018.
The 6-foot-5, 253-pound player was traded to New England in August of 2019 and then spent time on the Raiders’ practice squad. The Bears signed him to their active roster in late November of 2019, and he appeared in two games late in the year.
Saubert was later waived by the Bears in September of 2020 and was signed to the Jaguars’ practice squad. He appeared in eight games Game Eric Saubert Jersey, and started four for Jacksonville in 2020.
Saubert has primarily been used as a blocking tight end during his career, but the Drake product has 10 career catches for 85 yards.
General Manager George Paton said Saturday the team hoped to add “another big guy that can block in-line” at the tight end position.
Driskel spent one season with the Broncos, starting one game and appearing in relief in another. He also appeared briefly in a third game.
He nearly led the Broncos to a comeback win in Week 2 against the Steelers as he completed 18-of-34 passes for 256 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
The following week, in his lone start of the season, Eric Saubert Jersey Amazon, he completed 17-of-30 passes for 176 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
Driskel was sacked 11 times in his two games leading the offense.
Drew Lock, Teddy Bridgewater and Brett Rypien remain on the team’s roster at the quarterback position.
